Last week, I was invited to a conversation on the JewFunction Podcast. Lio Spiegler asked me about the benefits of being Jewish. This is an interesting question because, on the surface, it might seem challenging. Being Jewish involves adhering to numerous rules, respecting a rich culture, following a religious path, maintaining strong family ties, and dealing with widespread prejudice.
Despite these challenges, I feel privileged to be Jewish. We are the oldest people in the world, with the oldest religion and a rich cultural heritage. The Jewish people have significantly contributed to the development of humanity. Our values, particularly the Ten Commandments, have provided a foundational framework for much of the modern world's moral and ethical order. These principles have influenced legal systems, social norms, and cultural values across the globe.
